Damn, it looks like that Atlantic promotional money is starting to really kick in. Your boy FAB is poppin’ up all over the place right now. I think he’s going to be on that ridiculous MTV karaoke rap show tonight playing coach to Heff’s main hoodrat, he’s getting love with $hort on TMZ.com, there’s the battle that you’ve all seen by now, and it seems like every single rap website has something to say. Here’s some of the latest shit from SOHH…
The West Coast’s lack of reputation as freestylers…
“Some artists like Crooked I, Casual, The Hieroglyphics, the Mystik Journeyman, the Living Legends, you have a lot of people who that ability…Planet Asia is one of the most exceptional freestylers I’ve heard. But we really don’t get that nation-wide notoriety and it actually helps us. When people don’t expect you to do something that element of surprise is a key factor in winning over a crowd.”

For those of you who are fortunate enough to remember a time when radio did not completely suck, then you owe a lot of thanks to this guy. I probably have a whole shoe box full of tapes with old recordings of ‘The Wake Up Show’ stashed somewhere in my mom’s crib. Joe Quixx is a legend in the game and has a well deserved write up by Erik Arnold in this weeks East Bay Express…
Initially, KMEL’s program director gave them a half-hour of airtime. “Within the first ten minutes, he was like, okay, you guys can go for an hour,” Quixx reminisces. Eventually the show grew to the point where it was two to three hours. It soon developed a reputation in the music industry for breaking new records.
Compared to the pop-crossover efforts of Tone Loc and Young MC, “The Wake Up Show’s sound was heavier and more underground. “That’s why I think it made such an impact,” Quixx says. “Bobbito and Funkmaster Flex and all those guys used to come out here and say, ‘Wow, they let you guys play hip-hop on commercial radio?’”
On a side note, if anyone out there has a link to The B.U.M.S. album, give me a holler!

I guess this would qualify as breaking news if the year was 1993. The news makers seem a little late on this one but you can peep the whole story at cbs5.com.
Hip Hop artist San Quinn calls the drug “the new crack.” A recovering addict, San Quinn is worried because he’s seeing a lot of young people taking too much ecstasy and that these cheaper drugs are being introduced into increasingly demoralized inner city neighborhoods.
“Two dollars a pill, like crack was,” said the rapper. “You can get a $2 shot. You can get a $5 pill. And the kids are already mad. They’re already walking around with people who they’re mourning on their shirt.

I doubt the labels would ever agree with this, but I’m sure everyone reading this would think that Boots is on to something.
The Coup now have their own YouTube channel which can be found here. Check it out, theres already a bunch of cool shit up with some fancy graphics and all that.
I though I would go ahead and make Boots day and drop a bunch of dope Coup joints…hopefully he’ll gain some new fans.

Ladies and gentlemen, introducing the latest addition to the Golden State Warriors, Troy Hudson aka T-Hud. Let me remind you that this guy is a not only a 31 year old multi-millionaire who is heading into his 11th NBA season, but also a straight up gangsta rapper! I’m sure Charles Barkley thinks this guy should fit right in.

From time to time, I’m going to try and drop some music for the people. I’ll leave the whole albums for the million other pirate blogs, but I’ll throw in some random tracks. TSS has the ‘Stray Shots’ and “Loosies’, so I should probably come up with a title too. All ideas, bright and dim, are more than welcome in the comments.

“Get the fuck outta here!”
I’m sure you all have caught this one over at Nah Right by now, but like the in the crowd says, Royce got bodied. You gotta give it up to FAB for being one of the only cats out here that actually freestyles, let alone battle in SOB’s against some real competition. For the don’t knows out there, if you give this guy a stage, he’ll rap until the sun comes up.

Welcome to the new site.
I’m starting over with a new domain and some new ideas, most of which are going to be bit of off other more well done sites. The header is a work in progress and will continue to be until I understand how to use photoshop a little better. Thanks to everyone who has kept me in their links and hopefully will continue to do so.
